Confidence

I’m not a warrior
I’m too afraid to lose
I feel unqualified for what you’re calling me to
But Lord with your strength
I’ve got no excuse
'Cause broken people are exactly who you use
So give me faith like Daniel in the lion’s den
Give me hope like Moses in the wilderness
Give me a heart like David, Lord be my defense
So I can face my giants with confidence
CONFIDENCE by Sanctus Real
Last week granddaughter Kaedyn stayed with me a few days. She taught me this new song.

Like the Spring Rain

“So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
  His going forth is as certain as the dawn;
And He will come to us like the rain,
Like the spring rain watering the earth.”
Hosea 6:3

My Father's World

I have never been to the Grand Canyon, but something tells me, that if I were to ever see it, it would not be necessary to have a sign in front of it that said, "GRAND" canyon, and no one would have to tell me that the one who created this is a GREAT GOD!

This is my Father's world.
O let me never forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
Maltbie Babcock

I have enjoyed listening to old familiar hymns sung by the students at Fountainview Academy.

Knowledge

This is a photo of hundreds of thousands of stars taken from Hubble.

My grandparents remembered as children, being in awe the first time they saw an airplane fly over their little north Georgia town. I marvel at how rapidly knowledge has increased in my lifetime. How amazing it must have been to Daniel when God revealed in a vision the events of the last days.

Daniel 12
And the teachers and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness (to uprightness and right standing with God) [shall give forth light] like the stars forever and ever.

But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the Book until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro and search anxiously [through the Book], and knowledge [of God’s purposes as revealed by His prophets] shall be increased.

Kids Say the Cutest Things

I was an elementary teacher and I love the original answers kids invent -

You can listen to thunder after lightning to tell how close you came to getting hit. If you don't hear it.... never mind.

Australia has cold summers and hot winters, but somehow the people seem to adjust.

Many dead animals in the past changed to fossils, while others preferred to become oil.

Some people can tell the time by looking at the sun, but I have never been able to make out the numbers.

I am not sure how clouds get formed, but the clouds know how to do it and that is the important thing.

Rest in Your Love

I will rest in Your love,
Put my trust in Your goodness.
And set my thoughts on peaceful things above.
I will cast away my cares
And find my joy in Your presence.
I will rest, I will rest in Your love.

Whom shall I fear, and why should I worry?
Your grace is enough for my need.
Your joy is my strength,
Your peace is my shelter,
You faithfully watch over me.

All of my doubts, all of my striving
By faith I lay down at Your Throne.
Your Word is my shield, Your Spirit my power.
You tenderly care for Your own.

Peace

Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27

Jesus did not say these words lightly. He spoke tenderly to his friends on the evening he was betrayed, illegally tried, beaten - knowing he would be crucified the next day.

We cannot understand His suffering, our suffering, and the suffering of the innocent. But neither can  we comprehend Jesus' undying love.

FRIENDS

Charlie Brown was pitching in the neighborhood softball game, and pitching poorly. Lucy was giving him a lot of grief. As the criticism continued, Charlie Brown could bear it no longer. In frustration, he stood on his head in humiliation right there on the pitcher's mound.

Seeing his friend's pain, loyal Snoopy walked out and stood on his head beside Charlie Brown.

The Bible tells us:
"Laugh with your happy friends
when they're happy;
share tears when they're down."
Romans 12:15 Message

Happy Valentine's Day to all my blog friends.
I appreciate you!!

Buds

I can already see the buds on the pear trees that line the driveway here.
We had big snowflakes all morning.
That's one thing about the Ohio River Valley in southern Indiana:
The weather keeps us guessing from day to day.
This past week, the neighbor children were splashing in the rain puddles
and the next day, they were skating on the ice.
I would probably be bored in a place that did not have the changing seasons.
While the earth remains,
seedtime and harvest,
and cold and heat,
and summer and winter,
and day and night
shall not cease.
Genesis 8:22

Life

This is my comfort in my affliction,
that Your promise gives me life.
Psalm 119:50

I was encouraged by a you tube video of Joni Eareckson Tada speaking about suffering, disappointment and disability after she has been a quadriplegic for over 50 years. I know that what I experience with arthritis and memory issues cannot compare. I liked what she said about pushing away thoughts of despair and focusing on the grace, peace and mercy of God.

God's Purpose

I know that You can do all things,
and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
