Holy Love

Since ancient times no one has heard,
 no ear has perceived,

no eye has seen
any God besides You,

who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.
Isaiah 64:3,4 NIV

Holy love, flow in me,
fill me up like the deepest sea
Like a crashing wave pouring over me,
holy love flow in me

Keep on Praying

 .
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord
in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee,
and will look up.
Psalm 5:3

My Redeemer Lives

As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.

Job 19:25

My Redeemer Lives
Martin Nystrom
My Redeemer lives
And I will see His glory
As He works all things
Together for my good
Whatever things occur
Of this I can be sure
I know my Redeemer lives

Fear or Faith

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

I'll be honest. I read about attacks, social unrest, crime and terror threats, and sometimes I want to just hide away. At times I let worry distract me from even praying.

One of my favorite Bible teachers, John Paul Jackson, passed away this past week. I listened this morning to his sermon, "How God Kills Fear". God planned that we would be here at this time in history and He is not shocked at the problems that confront us. He is able to carry us until He carries us home.

Lord Jesus,
Don't let my love for you and for others grow cold. Through Your Holy Spirit, give me grace to pray for our enemies and to trust that You are my life. In my weakness, be my strength.

Sunny Saturday

Everything was glittering with ice in the morning sun, but by afternoon, snow and ice were melted away. There were birds flitting about, and seagulls circling over the lake. I was ready for a sunshiney day and a nice walk!

Oh, Lord God, you made the skies and the earth with your very great power. There is nothing too hard for you to do.
Jeremiah 32:17

Comforter

O spread the tidings ’round,
wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts
and human woes abound;
Let every Christian tongue
proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!
by Frank Bottoms, 1890

Comforter: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby, Holy Spirit

Interesting fact: This hymn was a favorite at the Azusa Street Revival  in Los Angeles 1906-1909

Divine Appointment

When I have an important appointment, I can hardly sleep the night before with anticipation. I try not to let anything prevent me for being where I am supposed to be.

Isn't it amazing to think about how God thought of you and me before he ever created the world. He wrote our names in His appointment book for this time in history?

"In spite of escalating turmoil in our world, there remains one last, great outpouring of mercy during the end times. This supernatural season of grace has been predetermined. It is an 'appointed time' of the Lord."
Francis Frangipane

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

It shall be said in that day, Behold our God upon Whom we have waited and hoped, that He might save us! This is the Lord, we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. Isaiah 25:9

Heavenly Father,
In spite of the troubles around us, help us to focus on Your mercy and grace, knowing that Your are ears are open to our prayers. Thank You for the privilege of having a front row seat as we behold Your glory.

Prayer for Iraq

Listening to David Brymer worshiping this morning and praying for Iraq, for persecuted Christians around the world, and for the salvation of those who don't yet know our precious Savior.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 NIV

The Shoe Repair Shop

In the 1950's, up Main Street from my grandparents' house was a shoe repair shop. It was a tiny building with a coal heater. The retired men would gather there in winter and talk about the latest news or tales of days gone by.

Grandmother would send me up to the shoe shop to fetch Grandpa when she had dinner ready. "Dinner-time" was exactly noon every single day, but Grandpa needed a reminder to tear himself away from the lively talk at the shoe shop.

I remember how the wooden floor would creak under my feet, the smells of leather and shoe polish, the warmth of the fire, the row of shoes lined up on the shelf, and the row of men crowded onto a wooden bench.

Looking back, I am amazed at how the owner welcomed so many guests as he was busy working. He didn't just fix an old pair of shoes; he would clean and shine them and until they looked like new. He greeted young and old as if they were his most important customer.

I am so thankful that in our Heavenly Father's eyes, all are welcome and He treats each of us is His favorite

Intently Watching

Wait calmly for God alone, my soul,

because my hope comes from him

Psalm 62:5
A friend at Bible Study pointed out that "wait" in the passage we were studying, didn't mean to be resigned and passive; it meant to watch intently like a cat getting ready to POUNCE!

I remember waiting for Daddy to come home when I was a child. I would ride my bike around the corner and wait for him to come into view as he was driving home from work...at exactly 6:15! Then I would pedal as hard as I could up the hill and try to beat him into the driveway. ( I suspect he let me win!) I knew I could count on a wink and a smile as I told him all about my day.

So, next time I read "wait on the Lord", I will realize that God is delighted to see His children eagerly watching and waiting for Him.

Old Oak Tree

"Great oaks from little acorns grow" - Well, that might take some patience! Oak trees don't produce acorns until they are 20, 30 or more years old - but if you walk under an oak that is seventy or eighty, you might need to open your umbrella to keep them from bouncing on your head. The trees can produce thousands of acorns.

The sight of big old oak trees encourages me because God said His people will bear fruit even in old age - ESPECIALLY in old age.

The seeds that fell on good ground are the people who hear and understand the message. They produce as much as a hundred or sixty or thirty times what was planted.
Matthew 13:23
