Grandpa said, "It will snow some more,"
The third morning we watched snowflakes falling
Through frosted panes in the front door.
In the afternoon sun, it melted to slush,
But froze that night with an icy crust.
Icicles dangled from the traffic light,
As we dashed across the street for a snowball fight.
We Georgia kids had no flexible flyer,
So we rounded up whatever we could acquire.
We borrowed the lid from a metal trash can
And pushed the little sister in Mama's dishpan.
With our fingers numb we charged through the door
Tracking up Mama's just-mopped floor.
Her cups of cocoa warmed our insides
And we rushed out the door for one more sled ride.

We've only had a few flurries so far this season.
Wonder if we will have snow in February?

What a sweet poem! I like your header photo too.
WHAT A DELIGHTFUL POEM, KAREN. YOUR MAMA'S HOT COCOA SOUNDS GOOD ON THIS COLD WINTER DAY. ISN'T IT FUNNY THE THINGS WE USED SO WE COULD HAVE SOME FUN OUTSIDE? I LOVE YOUR CUTE HEADER. IT'S PERFECT FOR FEBRUARY COMING UP. : )

I think that those of you who don’t get much snow, appreciate it more than we do over here. I do love a good snow, and even a blizzard.
Your header photograph is lovely, and I enjoyed your poem.
All the best Jan
What a sweet poem and adorable header!Hugs!
Love your header! We've had a few inches of snow all January. Saw lots of beautiful snow in Vermont, but New York is just about snowless. It's pretty, but then so difficult to get around. Take care!
We havent had one single flake this year so far but I do remember as a child playing in it and the memories are sweet. Loved the poem.
Hi Karen,
these are lovely words. Here in Northern Ireland we are between the sea and a Loch so we rarely get snow. However we had some very strong hail stones a few nights ago.
Love the poem, it made me smile. :) No snow here, not surprised because we seldom see snow and when we do it's gone in the blink of an eye!!
This poem creates a sweet scene and brings back lovely memories.
