about this time of year.
I'm eager to soak up all the rays
Before they disappear.
I love the splash of color
That autumn's frost can bring.
It's the last party of the year
Summer's parting fling,
But there's a sense of loss
When I see the fading flowers.
Like them, I dread the dimness
Of shortened daylight hours.
Yes, I'll enjoy the pumpkins,
The fall festival downtown.
I'll revel in the confetti
of leaves swirling 'round.
Then I have to admit
I wouldn't want it any other way
Than the cycle of the seasons-
Hidden treasures in each new day.
Hidden treasures in each new day.

Lovely poem, Karen. This is a pretty time of year, but it always makes me feel a little sad too. Each season brings its own beauty though. :)
That's lovely, Karen. I feel those same emotions at this time of year. I do love Fall and Winter, but they also bring out a bit of the mix of sadness along with the crisp alive feeling.
Karen, I love your poem. It makes me go back to my mom's old place...which was a block and a half from my house. LOL. I Miss those days. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
I love the poem. I remember the fun of playing in piles of leaves. The smell of the neighbor burning leaves! We are enjoying cooler temps this evening; makes me anxious for the leaves to change colors! xo
You write poetry, Karen! I have written a couple poems about my children. Keep writing poems, it's a talent for sure, and I really like the ones that rhyme. :)
You're right, each season has hidden treasures, if only we look closely.

Beautiful poem, Karen!
Not much change in the leaves here yet but some are already falling. And the acorns.....oh my. One needs to be careful not to be taken out with a strike on the noggin!!
What a perfect poem for this beautiful season. You have quite a gift for poetry. That said it all so beautifully. Fall is my favorite season of the year, even here in Florida!
