That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

We are beginning to see daffodils blooming around here. Ice accumulation is expected Monday. It seems like thru the years, I have often seen daffodils coated with ice in Feb/Mar.
I LOVE this poem. Daffodils are my favorite. Mine are sleeping under an arctic snowbank at the moment. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day
It is one of my favorite poems. I suppose we will see daffodils for sale the closer we get to Easter.
I'd love to see a field of daffodils!
Dreaming of Spring and warmer weather ;-)
Good morning, Lovely poem! I am dreaming and wishing for an early spring. The daffies are one of my first blooms. Happy Sunday, enjoy your new week ahead!
Our temps have confused the daffodils:) I saw some blooming recently here in the South! Have a blessed day dear Karen, HUGS!
This brings back so many memories. My mother loved this poem and used to recite it to me when I was a child. It always made me see a field of yellow daffodils, and I still do to this day. It has been so many years and I still miss her. Thanks for the beautiful memory, Karen.
I'm ready for the daffodils to arrive too. I love this poem--wonderful!
