Simple Blessings

Let your servants see what you're best at,
The ways you rule and bless your children,
And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God,
rest on us, confirming the work that we do.
Oh, yes, affirm the work that we do.
Psalm 90:16-17 Message

As I look back over the years, there are special memories that bring me joy. They are not major events like awards or winning the sweepstakes... Just simple things like sitting on the glider on the screened porch with my sister during a summer rain shower, of Daddy whistling as he shined our shoes for Sunday school, of the sounds and smells of mother cooking supper, or of getting a sweet card in the mail.

I believe God wants me to live as if one of those memories is going to happen today. Maybe my simple act of kindness might become a special memory for someone else.

Good Morning. Sweet treasured memories from long ago. Do you remember Daddy "roughing up" the soles of our Sunday shoes on the brick, so we would not slip and fall? I remember the two of us sitting on that glider reading - was it Weekly Reader's that came in the mail? Love you and hope you have an enjoyable day.

I like the idea of becoming someones special memory.. my most cherished memory is swinging with my books in my grandmothers front porch... hours of reading and swinging

Those are wonderful, sweet memories, Karen. Those are precious to me, too, those little unnoticed accomplishments and moments. One of my favorite memories is of sitting on a glider with my cousin on my Aunt Bessie's porch reading. xo Diana

I just thought of this in my morning thoughts. I am tired and sore from too much work. I realized that each day is a redo day. I get to start a new day and try the same thing or something else for the day. I am blessed to have the next day to get that next chance in God's creation.

This is just lovely, Karen. I love hearing your special memories, and I can just see you daddy whistling as he shined your shoes. : ) This is a gentle reminder that our kindness may be a gift to someone who can surely use it in their life.

Oh, your blog design made my heart sing. I'm not sure if I told you, but Purple is my favorite color.
