Attitude Adjustment

Our pastor told us that we can choose to change our bad attitudes. He said, "I'll prove it to you. I've seen you people in the drive through line at the fast food with your children. You are threatening the little darlings, 'If you don't behave, I'll get out of this line and we'll go straight home!'"

Then it's your turn to order, and you put on your sweetest smile and say, "Good Morning! I'd like four happy meals, please and thank you."

When I am tempted to complain and quarrel, the Lord reminds me, in the same amount of time, I could  pray for the situation and speak a blessing over the person.

Let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.
Psalm 5:11 Amplified

I am thankful I don't have little darlings in my car to say that, but it is a really good comparison.. I do have to say it is hard for me to adjust mine when I am angry...

Great reminder.
When our attitudes are right our days seem so much more enjoyable. :)

I was mad at a politican once. (Years ago.) I very much disagreed with something he was saying on TV. But...the Lord led me to pray for him, so I did reluctantly. I prayed for peace for his family. Guess what happened...yeah, suddenly I had peace. The politican seemed to continue doing things I disagreed with..ha ha...but God gave me peace. So...hmm...wise words. Speak a blessing. Life is better that way. Also, (for me) turn off the TV! ; )

I am sitting here laughing about this...well, the little darlings part anyway. One time my two girls and a neighbor girl were headed to the mall, and my two were just arguing back and forth over nothing..I don't even remember what. I told them to drop it, and they didn't...I told them to drop it or we would turn around and stay at home...we stayed home. We were not even out of town..not even a mile away. That was after working all day and I just did not feel like listening to that.

I wonder what the good Lord feels about me sometimes.

Oh Karen, you are so right. We could use that same amount of time to pray for the person involved. A right attitude goes a long way. Thank you for the reminder.

Karen, I smiled right when I saw your colorful blog design. It looks a bit like the 60's, and I really do love color in my life.

Thanks for the rainbow. : )

Wonderful advice! Sometimes we allow ourselves to slip into a bad attitude and need to be reminded to be sweet. Jesus helps me stay much sweeter...when I take the time to read His Word before reacting to situations that could cause me to have a bad attitude. Gotta stay plugged in to the "Be-attitudes" and stay blessed!!

I was a bit like that with my kids. If I tell my grandkids that now, I mean it. HAHA
I love the name on your blog. Very nice. Thanks for coming over to visit me at my blog.

What a good reminder! I think of those prayers as praying on purpose - when you really don't have it in your heart to pray for that person or situation but you do anyway. Have a great day.

So true dear Karen! When I left Church on Sunday, I was waiting behind several cars at a light! The man behind me blew his horn numerous times and there was nothing I could do! The people in front of me couldn't turn until the cars coming toward them passed! He was acting mean and I just prayed for him! Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!

What a wise man your pastor is, but ouch...I 'resemble' that, as my hubby says! LOL Yes, we can change, but change is hard....and can only be done with HIS help! Thank you so much for the reminder! HOPE you have a great day!

I really needed this reminder today... I've acted this way too many times and it is very hard to break the habit. But I'm so thankful that God is a forgiving God & He is an ever-present Help. Hope you have a wonderful day :-)

Whenever I get angry over something, I am always reminded of the fact that the Lord is there in the situation even if I do not see Him. It usually brings me to apologize - especially to my husband.:-)
