Tell Me the Stories

Kaedyn is learning to read so quickly in first grade. She was reading the story of Noah and the ark and together, we colored this poster for her bedroom wall.
I was thankful for the stories of God's miracles recorded in His Word this morning as I read in Psalms 102:18,
This will be written for the generation to come, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.

Tell me the story of Jesus
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Only One Life - C.T. Studd

A retired missionary couple were honored at our church Sunday. On his 70th birthday, Brother Joel Ragains quoted part of this famous poem.

Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgment seat;
Only one life,’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Seek His Face

“May God in his mercy lead us through these times;

but above all, may he lead us to himself.”

Future Teacher!

Granddaughter Kaedyn visited me on Saturday and brought her birthday present - a portable teacher kit. She had studied the US map and showed me with her pointer all the states her Uncle Cameron had driven through on his move from Kansas City to Newark NJ. I think she will make a great school teacher one day!

Rose Garden

I was remembering my visit three summers ago to the Smith Rose Garden in Kansas City.  I was struck with the thought that the perfumed air and vivid colors were just a taste of heaven.
Mother loved to hear George Jones sing.
How beautiful heaven must be.
Sweet home of the happy and free
Fair haven of rest for the weary
How beautiful Heaven must be

Pure waters of life there are flowing
And all who drink may be free
Rare jewels of splendor are glowing
How beautiful Heaven must be

Touch of Autumn in the Air

60 degrees when I went for my morning walk today.
We are seeing migrating ducks and geese stopping to rest on the grassy area and pond here.

HUDSON RIVER

Englishman Henry Hudson was searching for a quick route to China as he sailed along our north Atlantic coast in 1609. Hudson thought he had found it when he sailed into New York bay. He could not have imagined that someday this river would be named for him, and in these 300 square miles would live over 8.5 million people from all over the world.

My son Cameron is enjoying his new position ministering at a church in New Jersey. He is also amazed at all there is to see in New York City. Above is his photo of the Hudson River last night as he was driving home after the Friday night Bible study.

Never Forsaken

Let your conduct be without covetousness;
be content with such things as you have.
For JESUS Himself has said,
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
 Hebrews 13:5

Same verse in the Amplified version:
Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

The rain has made the flowers here beautiful!

Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth."
Hosea 6:3

Confidence in the Lord

Therefore do not cast away your confidence,
which has great reward.
For you have need of endurance,
so that after you have done the will of God,
you may receive the promise:
For yet a little while,
And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.
Hebrews 10:35-37 NKJ

Praise God for several teens who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior this week in the youth camp at the church where my son Cameron is ministering!

Days of Yore

While visiting the library this morning, I heard a young Mother explaining to her child about the olden days. I suddenly realized that I had grown up in the "olden days". I learned to type on a manual typewriter.
   Hand held calculators were not even invented
until after I graduated from high school!

I have given them the glory

Jesus prayed for us in the garden:
Father,
I have given them the glory You have given Me.
May they be one as We are one.
I am in them and You are in Me.
May they be made completely one,
so the world may know You have sent Me
and have loved them as You have loved Me.
John 17:22-23

Glorious promises in these parting words of Jesus.

PICS!

Recently we had some people vandalize a vacant senior living apartment here, and the same night, break into several cars in our parking lot. The only thing they took from my car was my camera, which I enjoyed so much. It had been a gift from my son Cameron. As he was leaving for New Jersey last Sunday, he gave me a new camera identical to the one I had. So here are my first photos in a while!

These are from the church garden. I love the bright hues of zinnias.

Reach Out to Jesus

He is always there hearing every prayer
Faithful and true.
Walking by our side, in His love we hide
All the day through.
When you get discouraged just remember what to do,
Reach out to Jesus, He reaching out to you.
Ralph Carmichael

My son Cameron visited for three weeks. When he was packed and ready to go to his next job in New Jersey, all the ladies in my building gathered in a circle and prayed for God's blessings and care for the trip. How wonderful to have praying family members and friends. Please pray for the Christian outreach youth camp he will be helping with for the next two weeks in Newark, NJ.

Childlike Trust

Much-loved child,
Trust Me from the bottom of your heart;
don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for My voice
in everything you do, everywhere you go;
I'm the one who will keep you on track.
Love,
Father God
Based on Proverbs 3:5-6

Quiet Place

My son and I found a cool quiet place for a lunchtime picnic, with a stream flowing nearby.
Reminded me of a song our quartet used to sing.

There is a quiet place far from the rapid pace
Where God can soothe my troubled mind.
Sheltered by tree and flower there in my quiet hour
With Him my cares are left behind.

Each New Day

Cameron on ministry trip to Katmandu, Nepal, 2015
"When we wake up in the morning, may it be like the first day we got saved. That newness, that freshness. Don't you dare let go of this."
Graham Cooke

My son Cameron is here visiting me for a while, and he is a wonderful Bible teacher, and also writes worship songs. It has been great to end the day in God's Word and in prayer together.
