Wrestle or Nestle?

I heard a news commentator asking a minister the hard question that is on many people's minds. How could God let these tragedies happen? He answered that every generation since the beginning of time has had to deal with that question.

At some point in our Christian walk, we will come up against a situation that will cause us to WRESTLE with our image of God. Then, by His grace, He will reveal even more of His love to us, and we will finally surrender our "right" to understand everything, and simply NESTLE in His strong arms.

John Newton, who wrote the much-loved hymn "Amazing Grace", also wrote  "Though Troubles Assail Us".
No strength of our own
And no goodness we claim
Yet since we have known
Of the Savior's great name
In this our strong tower
For safety we hide
The Lord is our power
The Lord will provide

Karen, When I was young, I did not truly know how to I would beg God to grant me some gifts of candy, shoes or clothes. Or even make my freckles disappear. LOL. I learned to pray for the strength to work for things I needed or wanted. The strength to accept the moment of , "this is how it is for the time being". As I aged I learned to pray more for others too...that has helped me so much. I have known that God is my best friend since I was 8 years old. I don't know why it took that long for me to learn that. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

That's a beautiful image you included today. Trust is difficult especially in hard situations. But, God is faithful.....I know because I experienced it!
God bless your day, Karen!

Catching up on some of your posts and this one spoke volumes to me this evening! I've had such a heavy heart for our world over these past several months... seems like every time I've tried to write a new post, my mind would get so distracted with the news of that day (tragedies, elections, personal, etc)... but just to sit & breathe in God is to release control to Him. Thank you for this post ~~ it's just what God wanted me to read.

I was not familiar with this hymn but the words are certainly beautiful. I wish you a very nice weekend.
