Rose of Sharon Tree

One of the treasures I saw on my walk this morning.
Along the walking trail, the many different kinds of trees are labeled. I remember grandmother having this tree in her yard. She loved for me to drive her out into the country to visit some elderly ladies who would give her plants to add to her garden.

I had never heard this hymn until today. Wonderful lyrics!

Jesus Rose of Sharon
Ida Guirey
Jesus, Rose of Sharon, bloom within my heart;
Beauties of Thy truth and holiness impart,
That wherever I go my life may shed abroad
Fragrance of the knowledge of the love of God.
Jesus, Rose of Sharon, bloom forevermore;
Be Thy glory seen on earth from shore to shore,
Till the nations own Thy sovereignty complete,
Lay their honors down and worship at Thy feet.

Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing."

Photos from Nepal

Before the mountains were born,
before you gave birth to the earth and the world,
from beginning to end,
you are God.
Psalm 90:2 NLT
Cameron is leading worship and teaching piano to some of the young people there. He says to thank you for your prayers.

Praying for the Children

I received a video of Cameron and the children singing, "Hosanna In the Highest", at the orphan's home. He asks for continued prayer for many children who lost parents during the earthquake, and some parents who are just not able to care for their children because of the loss of home, jobs, and health.

Cameron and his friends will meet with new Christians who are willing to pastor house churches, to study the Word. In the photos I saw, the pastors are so young. Please pray for them as they take a bold stand for truth and minister to many hurting people.

Thank you.

Sing Praise!

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.
To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
and Your faithful every night.
Psalm 92:1-2
I took this photo on a cool spring morning at Longview Lake in Grandview, Missouri. When I lived near there last year, I would enjoy my morning devotional time and the bright sunlight reflecting on the water.
One morning, I decided to go early to see the sunrise. It was so cloudy that the sun's rays never peeked through! I felt that the Lord was telling me, "I am the same, yesterday, today, and forever. When it's cloudy or sunny, a good day or a bad day, I am with you just the same."

This verse also came to mind:
Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
Psalm 112:4

Cool Morning in Indiana!

I feel a lot more like walking with the cooler temperature and lower humidity! I see the prettiest butterflies and birds, but they scoot away as soon as I get close!

The boundary between Indiana and Kentucky is the Ohio River. The Kennedy Bridge connecting Jeffersonville, IN to downtown Louisville, KY, was completed in late 1963, and named for the assassinated president four days after his death.

It is nice to drive beside the river at sunset and watch the changing colors.

I will praise the Lord with my whole heart.
He has sent redemption to His people.
He has commanded His covenant forever.
Holy and awesome is His name.
Psalm 111:1a, 9 NKJV

I am getting updates 2 or 3 times a week from my son. He is helping at the orphanage today, and will travel out in the countryside tomorrow. He is meeting workers from several different organizations who are helping those affected by the earthquakes. He asks for continued prayer for their safety.

Listen now, you who know right from wrong,
you who hold my teaching inside you:
Pay no attention to insults,

and when mocked,
don't let it get you down.
Isaiah 51:7-8 Message

I read a testimony today online about a teenage girl who boldly witnesses for Christ in a country where it is against the law. My friend asked her if she was aware of the consequences. She answered that it would be an honor to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ.

Cameron made it to his destination!! Thank you for your prayers.

This is the day the Lord has made!

It was refreshingly cool and dry this morning with a nice breeze. I was inspired to go for a walk at the park!

This afternoon my son Cameron leaves on his trip. Thank you for your prayers. Please pray for the orphans in Nepal and those who work with them.

They were singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb: "Great and marvelous are your works, O Lord God, the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations.
Revelation 5:3

During my quiet time this morning, I thought about Moses' Mom, a Jewish mother who wanted her son's life to be spared. I'm sure you know the story of how he was not only rescued, but the Pharaoh's daughter hired Mom to feed and care for him until he was old enough to live at the palace.

I wonder how many times Jochebed prayed for Moses to stay true to the God of their fathers in the midst of a people who did not know Him. I found that Jochebed means "YAHWEH is glory".

Many years went by before Moses led God's people to freedom from Egyptian bondage.
It's so amazing how God uses experiences in our lives to prepare us to be vessels fit for His use.

Just and true are Your ways, Oh Lord!!
