Fearless Confidence

We know that people are suffering persecution for the name of Christ around the world. The apostle Paul suffered for the sake of the Gospel and encouraged us with these words:

For you did sympathize and suffer along with those who were imprisoned, and you bore cheerfully the plundering of your belongings and the confiscation of your property, in the knowledge and consciousness that you yourselves had a better and lasting possession.

Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward.

For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.
Hebrews 10:34-36 Amplified

Find Rest My Soul - I Will Not Be Shaken

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
My hope comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
Pour out your hearts to him,
For God is our refuge.
Psalm 62:5-8

Lighthouse in the Storm

I see your tears.
I listen to your prayers.
Whatever situation you are in,
Whisper My Name.
When your strength is gone,
I will lift you up in my strong arms.
I am your high tower,
Your lighthouse in the storm.

by Karen Rice

The name of the Lord is a strong tower
The righteous run to it and are safe.

Isn't it funny how easily we can misunderstand each other?

One hot summer day, Daddy was on the porch and I heard him yell in an urgent voice, "Karen, get me ice water!"

I must have been about 6 years old. As quickly as I could, I opened the freezer, loosened the cubes from the metal ice tray by running it under warm water, climbed up and got a glass out of the cabinet, and filled it with ice and water.

The whole time, Daddy was saying, "Hurry up?"

"Wow, he's really thirsty!" I was thinking.

I rushed the ice water out to him, and he smiled and shook his head. A wasp buzzed around him as he asked again, "Karen, get the fly swatter."

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
Titus 2:11-14 NASB

A Bible teacher that I admire is Joel Richardson. You can hear him teaching on The Return of Jesus Christ, Our Blessed Hope, on his blog: Joel's Trumpet.

ROSES by George Eliot

You love the roses - so do I. I wish
The sky would rain down roses, as they rain
From off the shaken bush. Why will it not?
Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on. They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be
Like sleeping and like waking, all at once!

Every day is a gift from God!

It's amazing what will entertain a child for hours on a hot summer day. I gave her spray bottles, squirt bottles, and different sized containers to pour water into. She also created her own "car wash" for her riding toys.

Jesus' Words

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Matthew 6:28-30

With the financial crisis in Greece, and overwhelming debt in many nations, including the USA, these words of Jesus hit closer to home.
