Jeremiah

I have been reading through the book of Jeremiah. It occurs to me that he lived in a time similar to our present circumstances. He saw people worshiping the "god" of pleasure and ease, rather than living in awe of the one true living God.

These verses give us much to ponder.

But who has stood in the council of the Lord,
That he should see and hear His word?
Who has given heed to His word and listened?

Behold,
the storm of the Lord has gone forth in wrath,
Even a whirling tempest;
It will swirl down on the head of the wicked.

The anger of the Lord will not turn back
Until He has performed and carried out
the purposes of His heart;
In the last days you will clearly understand it.

Jeremiah 23:18-20

What a precious gift of forgiveness God has offered us through the sacrificial death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. Will we accept Him in faith?

My wife and I too are reading Jeremiah right now. I am amazed at the similarity of today to back then. God's salvation is the only answer as rebellion seems to be the trend of the day.
