Reach Deep

Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. Ephesians 3:17 NLT

They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. Jeremiah 17:8 NLT

I receive ministry letters from a couple in Israel, Dr. Daniel and Patty Juster (Tikkun International).

Dr. Juster wrote: " It is so important during the challenging days ahead, that we are so rooted in God's love that nothing can move us....Oh, to be unmoved by our circumstances and get to the place where we never question God's love for us....

So how do we get our roots down? Strangely enough, it is by being faithful during the small trials. As we are tempted to doubt, we press more and more into God and refuse the lies of the enemy. Then, when the really hard times come, our roots are already established and our faith will remain strong."

Father God,

Grant us the grace to trust you moment by moment so that we go deeper that just "head knowledge" of You, and that we know for certain that You have made Your permanent home in our hearts.

This reminds me of a song we used to sing in Sunday School. "Like a tree standing by the water, I shall not be moved."
Nice post, Karen!

When we really want to know God, He will certainly show Himself. If we only knew how much He can do, we would see everything differently!

"Faithful in small trials." I agree--good way to get our roots down, even though it's not always what we want. I prayed your beautiful prayer.
